What are Pelvic Floor Disorders?

The Pelvic Floor is the muscles, ligaments, connective tissue, and nerves that help support and control the rectum, uterus, vagina, and bladder. The pelvic floor can be damaged by childbirth, repeated heavy lifting, chronic disease or surgery.

About Us

Our Practice

The Woman’s Center for Advanced Pelvic Surgery is the premier center in Arizona dedicated to treating female pelvic floor disorders such as urinary and fecal incontinence, bladder and bowel dysfunction, and pelvic organ prolapse. The center provides state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment options for women with pelvic floor disorders.

Disorders of the female pelvic floor seldom occur in isolation. As an example, urinary incontinence is often accompanied by pelvic organ prolapse and possibly even fecal incontinence. Traditionally, patients sought care from multiple different specialists, but now they can receive comprehensive care from a specialist trained in urology, colorectal surgery and gynecology called an Urogynecologist.

Our physicians, Drs. Ryan R. Stratford and Ronald C. Burton have completed many years of education dedicated to the treatment of female pelvic floor disorders. In addition to four years of speciality residency training in Obsteterics and Gynecology, they have obtained further training in female pelvic medicine and pelvic reconstructive surgery.  Dr. Stratford completed a urogynecology fellowship at Scott White Memorial Hospital with world-renowned surgeon, Dr. Bob Shull.  Dr. Burton has participated in multiple training seminars throughout his career. That preparation, in combination with years of surgical experience, allows them to provide truly specialized care.

In addition to highly-specialized surgical treatment of pelvic floor disorders, the center offers multiple non-surgical treatments such as bladder and pelvic floor rehabilitation, pessary management, pelvic floor physical therapy, electrical stimulation, medications and in-office neuromodulation. Our nurse practitioner, Danielle Garcia, has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the non-surgical treatments of pelvic floor disorders and is one of the only specialty trained nurse practitioners in pelvic floor physical therapy in the state of Arizona.  Our experienced staff is focused exclusively on treating female pelvic floor disorders so they can offer dedicated, specialized care for you.

Whatever your specific needs require, you can be assured that you will be treated with compassion, care, confidentiality, and respect. As a woman, you have spent your life improving the lives of many people around you. Now it is time to seek help to improve your quality of life. Let us help you cope with and treat the problem you face and give you back the quality of life you deserve.
